we are friends we are in love
yet it dwindles like a needle up above
stacks of machinery
and broken monitors deactivating
if i remove myself from the tv
will the static still be
tattooed on my brain will the wires be
too unwound to be anything but frayed
it’s the media that does this to us
i dont blame pop culture
for my lack of feeling
big brother is watching but he's bored of the misleading
language used in top forty hits
reality brings no bliss
screens lead to screams
conflict ends dreams
it’s our families that do this to us
constantly fighting or remarrying
they don't match the nuclear ones
that have happy endings when the credits come
its our friends that do this to us
when they can't read minds and aren't
kind and perfect in every way
like the ones we watch everyday
its ourselves that do this to us
when our bodies don't match magazine covers
we cant uncover the reasons for our mental demise
its the media that does this to us
its the media that does this to us

Remember Me
03:37
|
|||
mirrors placed in picture frames
rusty nails and forgotten names
poems dusted with remnants of plague
ribbons wrapped around your ribcage
remember me
please please
boxes filled with fragments of stone
through soil and dirt we exist alone
buried deep beneath the shade
ivory dresses begin to fade
remember me
please please
leave me be to fall asleep
these words weren’t meant to keep
everything feels hazy
like floating through a dream
